⠀⠀ ⠀⠀Born under the anuradha star, esmé was destined from birth for success and fame. however, for as far back as her mother's family could trace their ties, they had been priests and priestesses. it was their duty to protect their small village from spirits and ill omens. esmé's father, a firm skeptic of the supernatural, allowed esmé's to be trained by her grandmother only to appease his wife.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀To her grandmother's endless frustrations, esmé was a girl after her father's heart: sceptic and uninterested in the occult. as she learned how to ward homes from demons and ghosts (something she privately found ridiculous, but would never say to her grandmother), she also cultivated a deep love of the arts. esmé dreamed of the stage; of fame and wealth and her face on bilboards.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀By her eighteenth birthday her plans of mutiny had been cemented. shortly after midnight she packed her bags, left a note and took off to seoul. her mother was furious; her father wired her money. her grandmother... well she couldn't ignore esmé forever; one day she'd forgive her. probably. hopefully.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀Life in seoul was hard. esmé struggled to survive and find her place among the thousands of other hopefuls dreaming the same things she was. it was cutthroat—people she thought were friends used her as a stepping stone, songs and debuts went to other idols. for the first two years, she spent most days tired, hungry and furious at herself for leaving home.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀But she held on and eventually was able to debut as an idol. she sent the first copy of her album home, proud to finally have some proof that what she'd been fighting for was worth it. there was, as she'd half expected, no response from her grandmother, though her mother admitted that she often heard esmé's songs playing from within her room.⠀⠀ ⠀⠀Esmé continues to work tirelessly to achieve her goal of being a top artist, never wavering.
